Burden for Kids

Why We Have a Burden for Kids

One of the neediest mission fields in the world is the youth culture of America.

Some statistics Regarding American Teens:

  • 83% say that moral truth depends on the circumstances.
  • 2 out of 3 say that Satan is not a real being, but is simply a symbol of evil.
  • 61% say that if a person is generally good, they will earn their way to Heaven.
  • 6 out of 100 believe that moral truth is absolute.

Since 1962, evolution theory and humanistic theology have warped the minds of millions of students. It’s not that they don’t want to do well. Many of them envision themselves as being “spiritual” and doing well for God in life.

They Try Hard:

  • 90% say they pray weekly.
  • 70% attend a church meeting weekly.

But Moral and Spiritual Failure Prevail:

  • Almost half have had sex by age 18.
  • Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death.
  • 7 out of 10 high school seniors drink alcohol.
  • Every day, 1000 unwed girls become moms.

Why?

The reasons for the decline of our foundations are many, but let me suggest a few of them:

  • There are more boys (40%) living without their fathers in America than any country on earth.
  • When the anchor of absolute truth is taken away, any behavior can be justified.
  • Churches can’t ultimately help unsaved kids – unless they begin by teaching them the gospel, clearly – so it is understood that salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone.

These are America’s kids. So many hurting for something better. Failed homes. Failed schools. And many are even failed at the churches that they go to. But you want to help them, don’t you?

The challenge is daunting. But unless we do something – more than we are doing – America is lost. Our kids are going to Hell.
